Constantia Flexiables, the world's third largest flexible packaging manufacturer, has opened the world's first factory in India to produce more sustainable and recyclable flexible packaging. The factory's focus is on EcoLam, a more environmentally friendly packaging line. The official opening ceremony will take place in ahmedabad on November 20.
Overall, reducing general waste, especially plastic waste, is an important issue in India and anywhere in the world, especially for the country's food processing and home and personal care industries. The Indian government has responded positively to this issue, including the passage of the plastic waste management regulations as early as 2016.Among other things, it requires the complete elimination of plastic products such as disposable plastic bags by 2022.Another part of the new rules is phasing out multilayer plastics, which are essentially unrecyclable. The rules show that the Indian government can put pressure on the circular economy and support initiatives and companies that promote waste reduction.
This is why Constantia Flexiables is taking action to provide a solution at the source in the field of manufacturing.
Constantia Flexiables CEO Alexander Baumgartner said, "we are aware of our responsibilities to the industry and the ultimate consumer, and first and foremost to the environment. So, not only are we focused on developing greener packaging, we've designed the world's first factory that specializes in sustainable packaging.Constantia Ecoflex Ahmedabad factory in gujarat, India is the perfect market for a forward-looking project."
