The global Market for polycarbonate (PC) composites will grow at a compound annual rate of 8.2 percent over the next few years and will be worth more than $3.2 billion by 2025, according to a new report by Gobal Market Insights.
In terms of demand, the automotive industry is currently a mid-sized application area for PC composites, but in the forecast period it will become an important terminal application area for the material.
Material suppliers are developing PC composites for many automotive applications, including skylights and door panels, which will drive demand growth.

Demand for medical devices is also expected to grow, the report said.
According to the report, the fibre-filled PC composite has varying degrees of reinforcement, providing bending strength, dimensional stability, and toughness, making it suitable for the molding of medical components such as check valves, stop cocks, and y-shaped syringes.
PC composites are used to make radiation-resistant devices that can withstand high temperatures and lipids, Global Market Insights added.
Carbon fiber reinforced PCS are also widely used in electrical fibers due to their flame retardant properties.
Growth in the automotive and healthcare technology sectors in China, India and South Korea will spur demand for CFRP PCS in the asia-pacific region, the report said
