A project in Paris called Faircap USES its open source 3d-printed water purifier to provide people with clean drinking water to help solve the human water dilemma.
The filter, which can be screwed directly to the spout of a standard PET kettle, filters out the dirtiest particles, chemicals, bacteria and viruses.
The water purifier is also simple to make by preparing a 3D printer, food-grade PET wire approved by the FDA, and downloading a free STL file.
In the future, Faircap hopes to offer different models of 3d-printed water purifiers that can filter sewage from faucets, rivers, lakes and ponds, at a cost of around $1.
2.White mouse, a plastic heart model, may be out of a job
In the field of biological 3D printing, the Washington paediatric medical center used 3D printing technology to print the world's first human heart with "plastic" and make it beat like a normal human heart.
Laura Olivieri, a paediatric cardiologist in the United States, said the 3-d printed heart, which is mainly made of plastic, will allow the printer to create layers of duplicated heart samples by feeding patient data into the device.The advantage is that surgeons can use these 3d-printed hearts to practice complex operations.
3.3d printed kayak successfully "trial run"
An engineer named Jim Smith has built the world's first 3d-printed kayak using 3D printing technology and successfully launched it.
The craft is made of 28 pieces of coloured ABS plastic, each made by a 3D printer and bolted together in 42 days.
The finished product is 5.08 meters long and 0.52 meters wide, with a total weight of 29.29 kilograms, including 26.48 kilograms for ABS, 0.86 kilograms for brass thread parts and 2.068 kilograms for bolts. The total cost is only $500.
4.A printed car can run as well as look
The stradie, the world's first 3d-printed car, takes to the streets of New York for a trial run on oct 10, 2014.The car is made of carbon fibre and plastic using "3D printing" technology.
With only two seats and a production cycle of 44 hours, the stradie USES only 40 parts and can reach a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.The stradie runs on electric power and can run for about 100 kilometers in just 3.5 hours on a single charge.
5.3d printed plastic can make rocket engines
The MIT rocket team used nylon and 3D printers to make plastic rocket motors.
In the first ignition test, the engine started successfully!Although the engine's nozzles wear out slightly after ignition, at least it does not melt or explode at high temperatures.
The researchers say nylon is an option, more because of financial constraints.But the team has also shown that it is possible to use a plastic 3d-printed engine.
Now, the team is working on larger, more durable engines, and eventually they will be able to build rockets with plastic shells that are powerful enough to get the full range.
